About this blog

This is Kate Bagnall’s blog. I mostly write about my research into Chinese Australasian history and heritage.

I’m interested in: legal histories of nationality and citizenship; histories of women, children and the family; Chinese communities in the Tasman world; the White Australia policy and colonial Chinese restriction policies; transnational lives and qiaoxiang ties; Chinese Australasian documentary heritage.

I am Senior Lecturer in Humanities at the University of Tasmania in Hobart, Australia. I also am Coordinator of the UTAS Family History program.
